“Why are breakups so damn excruciating? Because everything reminds you of your lover, hence your loss? Hearing your favorite Smith’s song on the radio, eating hot dogs on a lopsided park bench where the first ‘I love you’s’ was spoken, it’s no wonder you can’t go 24 hours without bursting into tears. When people see images of their loved ones the Caudate Nucleus of the Basal Ganglia floods with dopamine. Nicotine and other drugs also stimulate increases in dopamine, so when you try to quit smoking or sugar, your brain craves that substance; the same way that it craves the person that broke your freaking heart. You’ll do crazy idiotic things to get your fix. It’s because when you’re in love, it’s not as if you’re like an addict, you are an addict, literally. Reminds me over all, going cold turkey is a bitch.”

This really had me thinking about us and life after death. Would we ever even know?
